A frustrating application process. . . .

I’ve done my “application Friday” and in the end I’m a bit frustrated. . . . . .and not for the normal reasons.  I filled out several applications today that required me enter all of my resume information from scratch into a web form.  There was no ability to load the resume and have the resume fill out the form.  This was truly a pain in the butt!  What is the point?  All the requested information was on my resume.  I know, it was a test?  If you could complete the application form you proved your perserverence. . . . . thats it!  I imagine this is a way to keep the applicant pool low.  What a crock!

For those of us with a bit of experience (and age), entering work experience can be daunting. . . . . .and I don’t believe my supervisor from my EDS position in 1997 is still at EDS, and I surely don’t have his current phone number.

I know about filling out an application for a position, I’m actually working on one for my Monday interview.  I don’t have a problem with this type of process because I’m completing it as part of the interview. . . . .”As part of the INTERVIEW!!”  What several of today’s applications wanted was part of the pre-screening.  In pre-screening you review the resume and cover letter and make a decision based on that information. . . . . and then you offer an interview.  THEN YOU ASK THE “INTERVIEWEE” to complete an HR application.

DSK

PS.  Can you tell neither of the form application entry jobs were my PERFECT job?  For my perfect job I’ll moan and groan but I’ll fill out the form.  I’m angry. . . . . . . but not crazy.
